Wish You Were Here 9/52

Wish You Were Here ...virtual postcards from around the world Dear Friends, This week the boys' room got rearranged. We decided to take apart the bunk beds, since no one had any interest in sleeping in the top bunk. It's a bit cozier in their room, but they like it so much better. We're anxiously awaiting Spring Break next week, no vacation planned, but looking forward to not rushing out the door in the morning. Life is good. xo.

10-on-10: March

'the art of being happy lies in the powerof extracting happiness from common things' - Henry Ward Beecher

Saturday morning.

Filled with snuggles, lounging and laughter. After a long five days, it's soaked up with gratitude. No alarm clocks, no rushing out the door. Just lots of blankets piled around us, cozy and content.

thanks for coming north from the incredible Katy Tuttle; be sure to go south to the wonderful Annie Otzen.

An Afternoon of Art

'Listen to the MUSTN'Ts, child,Listen to the DON'Ts Listen to the SHOULDN'Ts The IMPOSSIBLEs, the WON'Ts Listen to the NEVER HAVEs Then listen close to me- Anything can happen, child, ANYTHING can be.' -Shel Silverstein

Afternoon's filled with art; when the sun is shining, but we don't last long in the piercing cold. Drawing Eagles and flags because the recent Olympics brought with it this new interest. Cutting them up, fitting them in, almost, into that little photo album, that's been sitting empty for years. That little photo album that has become a place for safekeeping, for art you don't want to lose, and other tidbits you treasure.

An afternoon well spent.

Wish You Were Here 8/52

Wish You Were Here ...virtual postcards from around the world Dear Friends, March is here, just like that. We spent Sunday in Pasagshak; hours of fresh air, a warm fire outside, the sounds of the ocean and homemade marshmallows. It was refreshing; it felt like Spring. Life is good. xo

February, Our Everyday

'I remember this day; it was my favorite day. That was summer right? I loved that day. Ella didn't really have fun, but I did' -Covey (while looking at a photo of him, Ry & Ella, disclaimer: Ella had a lot of fun)

At some point each day, I pick up my camera. I find it therapeutic- something incredibly relaxing about really focusing on a particular moment, & documenting it. Then one of my kids picks up a picture from last summer & talks to me about it (above quote), & it solidifies why I capture our every day. To save these memories; it's a form of journaling, of preserving. & just when I think I'm not really going to photography every single day, I do.

Kids Were Here

'If you must look back,do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present... gratefully.' -Maya Angeloubreannapeterson.com

Remember the day we made Valentine's for your class, Ry, & yours, Covey. You both were so particular on which classmates got which color heart. Your thoughtfulness warmed my heart.

Remember the finished product; we all thought they turned out pretty cool.breannapeterson.com

Remember those dry erase crayons, Ella; you'd grab them at any chance & often color all over the dry erase board. As soon as I turn my back, you'd go for the pictures or walls.

Remember that day we made cookies, Covey, you called them the Everydough Everything Cookies because we added lots of extra treats to them. They were so good. breannapeterson.com

Remember that scooter; Ry's scooter, but you're always on it Covey, you  much prefer scooting (is that a word?) to walking.breannapeterson.com

Remember those heart glasses, Ella, you loved wearing them.
