Welcome to the World, Harper

A long time ago, I traveled to Australia, where we visited a zoo with many different animals, including koalas. Of course, being tourists, we forked over some change to have a picture taken holding a koala because they are just as cute & cuddly in real person. Well cute, not really cuddly- I remember long claws. I forgot about that picture, until I was working on Harper's session & admiring the koala's in her room. So then I started googling koala information. Did you know koalas "...are predominantly active at night & spend most of their waking hours feeding"? (thanks Wikipedia). I didn't know this, but it seems to me they're describing a newborn. So Kaitlin & Luke have their very own koala now- only she's a lot cuter & definitely cuddlier (is that a word?).

Congratulations!

A Beautiful Baby Bump

A couple weekends ago, my sister & I & our daughters, headed to Anchorage for the weekend. It was lots of fun & a nice break off our island. We decided it needed to be our first annual trip. While the girls weren't so sure about all the car time, I'm pretty sure they'll like it in about fifteen years. Kaitlin & her mom met up with us a few hours before we flew home, & we squeezed in a very quick photo session before going to dinner. Kaitlin is gorgeous, inside & out. She's radiating that beauty with her pregnancy & it was so fun to see her baby bump. In a few more weeks, she & Luke will get to meet their little one. Congratulations you guys!!

The Day Clara was Born

'Someday I'll wish upon a star& wake up where the clouds are far behind me, where laughter falls like lemon drops always above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me... Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue & the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.'

We're getting a good dose of rain at the moment, which seems fitting as I write this blog post. One week ago today, we also got a good dose of rain. It was also one week ago today, when we were all in Pasagshak, & my sister started getting texts from her good friend- labor was happening. Her c-section wasn't scheduled for another month, the same day I have to take my youngest to a doctor appointment, out-of-town. As a result of the schedule conflict, I wasn't planning on meeting Clara the day she was born. Instead, she came about four weeks early- healthy, beautiful & oh so very tiny.

It was honestly amazing, being able to photograph her at the hospital. Her big sister is so in love, & was not eager to let me hold her, as she politely whispered, "Can I have my baby back now?!" Clara, you are so loved by her & the rest of your beautiful family, welcome to the world.
