What's Your Story?

So what is it? What’s your story? Who are you? Who is your family? Who are these children, the ones running around, full of life? The ones who don’t want to sit still for too long, what makes them smile? laugh? What makes all of this, yours? Maybe it’s a favorite tutu or jumping in mud puddles; maybe it’s a big bowl of chocolate ice cream or throwing rocks in the ocean; maybe it’s snuggling with the raggedy old stuffed puppy or curled up together, under the quilt your Grandma made. Maybe it’s none of this. Maybe it’s all of this.

We each have our own distinct stories- the littlest details, the tiny moments, that makes things our very own. These are what define us, these are what contribute to our foundation. Nobody’s story will ever be the same. We might create a photographic memory of it, but why not take it a step further, & actually document it.

Storytelling sessions are, quite frankly, sessions that tell your story. Maybe they’ll include one place, or maybe a bunch of places- your home, a favorite beach, a special park, the grocery store, your coffee shop. The places are ones of significance. They are probably part of your routine, perhaps the routine you don’t even realize you have. Maybe every Saturday, you take your kids for hot chocolates, & maybe you know how special this is, when their eyes light up & grin from ear-to-ear because they know it’s Saturday- it’s hot chocolate day. Or maybe you randomly head to the park, but the kids have a favorite park, with the swing that swings the highest & the merry-go-round that twirls the fastest. These are the places I visit with you, telling your story through images.

Your kids might remember me trailing along with my camera, or they might not because they're so caught up in their simple joys. Twenty years from now, they’ll look at the family photos & remember that day, so full of their real-life. It's about just being you. So tell your story. What are you waiting for?

11 Months Old

The 30-day countdown is on. EllaGrace is 11-months old. She's walking- well-balanced on those little legs of hers. She's talking- saying mommmmm, da (dad) & ho (hot). She's pointing like crazy & reaching her arms out, to get picked up. It all seems to be happening way too fast (yes, cliche, but yes, true!)...& in one more month, she'll be one.

March. 31 Photos. Week Two.

64. March 5th. One more monkey jumping on the bed. 65. March 6th. Blinded by the light, good think he has ninja superpowers.

66. March 7th. Star Wars.

67. March 8th. I should really take that creepy Halloween decoration down.

68. March 9th. Getting in the Easter mood, hippity-hop, hippity-hop.

69. March 10th. It was a perfect night to jump on your brother.

70. March 11th. Applesauce is not a finger-food.

Now head over to Shelley K Photography, to see what her week in Oregon was like (hint: if you like chickens, you'll love her post!).

10 on 10 - March

I know I've mentioned it before, but Sunday's are my favorite day of the week. Last Sunday was slow-moving, with lots of laziness & lounging. We all needed it. It was also food-filled; apparently we were hungry because we ate a lot. I was reminded of this fact when going through my images. Oh, & the ninja suit has been traded out for a Batman suit. Not sure how long that'll last, but at this point, all my pictures of Covey seem to be in some sort of super-suit. He wears them well.

1. Three, four.

2. Homemade applesauce.

3. The spoon tastes better.

4. Lazy day.

5. Sunday nap.

6. Chopping those olives.

7. Spaghetti, with chopped olives.

8. She now walks.

9. Batman goes for a clean face.

10. Pointing, at everything & everyone.

It was a good day :) & continue on with the circle by visiting Jill's blog.

A Saturday Stroll

The kids & I walked to the store today. It's a small convenience store, minutes from the house, filled with overpriced groceries. We've always appropriately called it "The Little Store." It was a good walk, with a sweet feeling of Spring. There were also reports of a bear in the neighborhood, a not-so-sweet sign of Spring. The fresh air, the blue sky, a hint of sun & the remains of our last snowfall melting away. It could easily feel like December in just a few days, but for now, we're soaking it up.

26 Fridays: Week 5

The theme this week: look up/look down. I intended to photograph with my camera pointed upwards, then downwards. I wanted some birds- we stopped by the beach a couple times, but they just flew away from me, fast. So I played around with some ideas with the kids. I wanted something meaningful. I thought a self-portrait of sorts- one of them looking up at me, me looking down at them. Sort of a play on our height differences. Then last night, when we we're minutes from losing all natural light, my idea sprung on me out of nowhere. EllaGrace looking up, me looking down, while she nursed. This is an around-the-clock view at our house right now; it's one I treasure & one I know will pass too quick.

Be sure to head over to Linda Prows' blog, to see her view & continue through our circle.
